Health is a major problem for most of the elderly. Health conditions branch out from various factors such as nutrition. If your parent or grandparent isn’t eating well enough, they might not get the adequate amount of nutrients for their body to function. We believe that your loved ones should not be deprived of healthy food just because they don’t have access to it or because they don’t have money or subsidy for it. Here are some of the solutions we have, to fight the issue of malnutrition among the elderly:
- Government Programs
The government won’t allow the elderly to starve or to lose access to nutritious food. California has some great options for you to choose from, such as CalFresh/SNAP which can be accessed with an EBT card. According to www.cdss.ca.gov, CalFresh is a “federally mandated, state-supervised, and county-operated government entitlement program that provides monthly food benefits. This is to assist low-income households in purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels.”
- Food Pantries
In most communities, food pantries offer a variety of food options. These food options can help you get the adequate level of nutrition you and your senior loved ones should have.
- Meals on Wheels
There are vehicles carrying nutritious food choices in some locations. The Meals on Wheels program might vary by location and might have fixed fees or suggested donations. Other times, it is totally free.
- Grocery Delivery
If your senior loved ones find it difficult to leave the house to buy groceries, there is no need to worry. Groceries can now be bought and delivered to their house with a little bit of help from technology.
