Common Mistakes in Senior Living Community Selection

» Senior Living Community » Common Mistakes in Senior Living Community Selection

We see this all the time at Helping Hands Senior Foundation, so we decided to share the most common mistakes you should avoid while selecting a community with you.

  • Making Hasty Decisions

Don’t rush into this decision. We always prefer to brief and tour you at three separate places or more so that you experience the various neighborhoods and their offerings. We want you not to end up in the wrong assisted living facility. We want you to move once and only once. Moving into a community doesn’t have to be difficult, but if you come up with a wrong choice, it will increase your stress.

  • Focusing on the Community’s Beauty

What about care? How long has the employee been employed there? Do they genuinely care about you? When you visit their skilled nursing facility, see if you can speak with some people. It can indicate whether or not the staff is keeping them healthy and active.

  • Taking This on by Yourself

Do not try this alone! There are placement services available that will do this for you! We take you by the hand and have already done the legwork with our placement assistance in Reseda, Los Angeles. We are aware of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  • Not Visiting the Communities for Yourself

Too many people claim they don’t have time or that they trust the decision of a loved one. Visit the community for yourself; you might see something your loved one overlooked. Don’t rely on images seen on the internet.

Consider using a care planning service. There is no reason to make mistakes while selecting a community for yourself or a loved one. It can be a stress-free, trouble-free experience in the right direction.

Our services are available to everyone, including low-income seniors.
